About Uptime Kuma

First released in July 2021, Uptime Kuma was created due to the lack of current available self-hosted monitoring tools that were available for free to the public to choose from. The other motivation behind creating this monitoring tool was that the current closest available such tool “statping-ng” was no longer maintained/updated and the UI was not modern and beautiful. Another one available “Uptime Robot” was also available however the “free” version is too basic and it is not open source.

Uptime Kuma is an open-source project, meaning that it is 100% free for anyone to use. Developed with modern technologies and programming languages such as Go, Vue.js, JavaScript, TypeScript and Docker. Licensed under the “MIT License” anyone can contribute to this project and use it for their needs, no matter the scale of the requirements. Yuzu supports most of the popular operating systems including Windows 10 (x64), Windows Server and Linux.

The most popular method of deploying Uptime Kuma among the community is using Docker and Docker Compose. Currently, it has over 100 Million Pulls. The project has seen a very swift but steady popularity due to the fancy UI it comes with along with constant upgrades and additions.

Uptime Kuma has features that are usually found in enterprise-grade or paid monitoring tools. Some examples are 20-second monitoring intervals, ping monitoring, an intuitive dashboard, alert notifications to your favorite everyday apps including Telegram, Slack and Email along with Status Pages.
